As value based care continues to gain momentum, hospitals are shifting their models and overall focus. While number of procedures and inpatients used to be measured, they have now been replaced by risk sharing and sustainable quality measures.

A large focus of the new regulations are seeking to limit hospitalization and avoid unnecessary readmissions. As our area hospitals play such a vital role in our communities, it is important for providers and state managed care organizations to understand the effects these changes have had, and how we can work together for a successful patient experience.
 
State Representatives
These fundamental changes to how healthcare is provided, is one that affects every individual in our state.
 
Along with representatives from the 5 NJ MCOs, and local Hospital chains, our state representatives can present their interest in bettering outcomes for our NJ residents, and reassure the healthcare community that we are working together to a more successful future.
 
MCOs
With their primary goal being membership health and wellbeing, MCOs are tasked with
the full care coordination and rehabilitation when necessary, at the highest standards
and efficiencies.

They play an especially vital role in New Jersey which boasts close to 2 Million MCO members, which is 20% of the entire state population. As each Insurers membership continues to grow in each NJ county, it is worthwhile for providers to gain the Payers Perspective into these changes. By understanding what the MCO’s goals are, providers can better accommodate these needs.
