Joseph DeMattos is a distinguished healthcare expert and chief executive, renowned for delivering targeted expertise in strategic planning, public affairs, healthcare policy, and government relations. With a career dedicated to driving high-impact initiatives, DeMattos has played a pivotal role in helping multi-million and multi-billion-dollar organizations achieve enhanced results by advocating for positive change and securing new funding.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, DeMattos emerged as a vital resource for government leaders, the healthcare sector, and the media at all levels. His focus on people and passion for leading complex organizations has made him highly effective in crisis communications, organizational change, brand building, and public influence.Born and raised in Mā’ili, Hawai’i, DeMattos holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa and a Master of Arts in Government from Johns Hopkins University. Further enhancing his expertise, he has completed executive education in Management at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. As an educator, DeMattos has served as an adjunct professor, imparting knowledge in public policy to undergraduates and leadership to graduate students. He is currently a Visiting Professor, at UMBC Erickson School of Aging Studies.
A graduate of the Pacific Century Fellows (2002) and the Leadership Maryland Class (2008), DeMattos is also a curator of leadership. His contributions to the field have been recognized with prestigious accolades, including the 2022 National Part-Time Adjunct Professor of the Year Award from the Gerontological Society of America. In 2020, he was honored as a Maryland Leader in Healthcare by the Baltimore Business Journal and named among The Maryland Daily Record’s Top 30 Healthcare Leaders in 2022.
DeMattos is a committed community leader, having served as the Past President of Har Sinai Congregation, the oldest continuous Reform Synagogue in the United States. He currently serves on the executive committee of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore and as a board member of the Baltimore Jewish Council. He is a member of the American Legion Post 22 in Towson, Maryland.
