Matthew V. Barrett (Matt) is the President and CEO of the Connecticut Association of Health Care Facilities and the Connecticut Center For Assisted Living (CAHCF/CCAL), a nonprofit trade association of one hundred and sixty-five skilled nursing facilities and assisted living communities, and the state affiliate of the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). Matt joined CAHCF/CCAL after a twenty-three year career in Connecticut state government in the health and human services field, leaving state service in 2009 as the longstanding Director of Public and Government Relations at the Connecticut Department of Social Services, Connecticut’s Medicaid agency. A member of the Connecticut Bar since 2011, Matt is a graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy and Government. He holds a Master of Public Affairs degree from the University of Connecticut and received his Juris Doctorate from Quinnipiac University School of Law. Matt serves on Connecticut state legislature’s Medical Assistance Program Oversight Council (MAPOC), the Nursing Home Finance Advisory Committee, and the Long-Term Care Advisory Committee. Matt is a board member, and former chair, of the Homeless Hospitality Center of New London.
